Syrians under fire during attempt to infiltrate into Lebanon

BEIRUT, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- A Syrian citizen was injured and two others went missing after they went under fire during an attempt to infiltrate into southern Lebanon through Mount Hermon, a Lebanese security source told Xinhua Monday.

The source said three Syrian citizens were caught under fire from non- Lebanese gunmen, who staged an ambush on the Syrian- Lebanese border in the Tallet El Zarka crossing.

The source added that the Syrian citizens, who came from the Beit Jin village, were fired upon by gunmen with light machine guns. One Syrian named Khair Mohammad Badawi was injured in the attack and was later sent to a Bekaa hospital by the villagers.

Meanwhile, two other Syrians named Ahmad Haidar and Abdallah Ak Safadi went missing during the incident, said the source.
