U.S. Navy submarine collided with an Aegis cruiser during routine operations off the coast of the Eastern United States, Navy officials said on Sunday.

The collision between USS Montpelier (SSN 765) and USS San Jacinto (CG 56) occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight time.

No personnel aboard either vessel were injured while overall damage to both ships was being evaluated.

The submarine’s propulsion plant was unaffected by the collision and both ships are currently operating under their own power.
